How to become a new patient

To become a new patient, all patients must book an appointment for a meet and greet to come in and discuss their medical history with the doctor. No other medical concerns will be addressed at this visit. Please keep in mind not all patients will be accepted, being accepted as a new patient is up to the doctors discursion.

Please keep in mind if you have a family doctor currently you cannot have 2 family doctors, so you would have to choose which doctor would be the best fit to have as a family doctor.

Appointments

Appointments can be booked in person or over the phone. If you are not a family patient of our clinic you can still call and book an appointment with our clinic.

Please keep in mind weekends are walk in only, no appointments will be booked.

Same day appointments

Please keep in mind if you have a family doctor in our clinic we will do our best to try and get you an appointment same day if an emergencies arises. If we are unable to book you an appointment you are always welcome to come in as a walk in and request to see your doctor or we will get your in with another available physician.

No show or late cancellations of appointments

We do understand that emergencies do happen; if you need to cancel your appointment for any reason please give us the most notice as possible. Minimum we would like 24 hour notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments.

If you do not show up for your appointment and do not contact our office, it is within the clinic’s right to charge you a missed appointment fee.

Walk ins

We do except walk-ins in our clinic, Monday to Saturday during our open hours. Please keep in mind patients with booked appointments will be seen first. Saturdays are walk in only. Due to high traffic volumes we may stop taking prior to closing time if we have reached capacity.

Wait times

Please keep in mind wait times are an estimation and we never know exactly how long the wait may be, we will do our best to get patients in to see the doctor in a timely manner. Please be understanding and respectful of clinic staff.

If you have an appointment we will do our best to get you in as close to your appointment time as we can, but do to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies that may not always be possible.

Test results

We do not give out test results over the phone, please book an appointment with the doctor to review any results. We would recommend if your symptoms remain or worsen to follow up with our office.

If your test results are received and the doctor would like to review the results with you and you don’t already have a booked appointment, our office will call you to set up a follow up appointment.

When will I get my test results back?

Most lab results take approximately take 7 to 10 business days to be received, some results can be received sooner but it is dependent upon what the doctor is testing for.

Some blood work has to be processed through the provincial laboratories or hospitals, those results take approximately 2 weeks to be received.

Cytology reports (pap) and biopsies normally take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to be received.

You can always call our office to confirm whether the results have been received, but we cannot discuss lab results over the phone. If you would like to go over the results please book an appointment to do so with the doctor.

Cell phones and electronic devices

We do ask that patients coming into our clinic to turn all electronic devices on silent or vibrate out of respect for clinic staff and other patients and to please take any calls outside.

Behavior in the office

This clinic has a zero tolerance policy to inappropriate behavior. If you don’t act respectfully you will be asked to leave.

Personal health information

Please be assured all patients information is being kept private by our office, your privacy is of the at most importance to our office. If you have any concerns about your privacy or questions please contact Rebecca Hunt the privacy officer and clinic manager.

Patient demographics

Please ensure that your file is kept up to date with current address and phone number. Please inform reception staff if there are any changes to your personal information.

If you have moved please notify us as well as Manitoba Health so you can be mailed a new health card with the updated information. If you do not contact MB Health when you move they may cancel your health care coverage, so please contact Manitoba Health at 204-786-7101.

Narcotic prescriptions

Our doctors will not prescribe narcotics prescriptions to anyone who is not a patient of our clinic.

Please note all doctors do not have a triplicate pad.

Prescriptions renewals

Please book an appointment with your doctor for prescription renewals, some prescriptions may be able to be filled through a prescription fax from your pharmacy. This is dependent upon the type of prescription and the doctor discursion. For an antibiotic prescription the patient must come in and be reassessed before the doctor will fill any antibiotic prescriptions. Our fax number is 204-257-9771

Referrals

If a referral to a specialist is being made by our office, we will do our best to ensure the referral is being sent in a timely manner. Please ensure your information is current as either our office or the specialist office will contact you by phone or mail with your appointment. Please keep in mind it can take anywhere between 2 months, or even a year or more to see some specialist. If you have a particular specialist you would like to see please inform staff prior to the referral being sent.

Forms

Please inform the front end staff of any forms you have prior to seeing the doctor. Most forms are not covered Manitoba Health and it is the patients responsibility to pay for any forms. Please see the services tab for a full pricing list. All payments must be paid in cash.
